May at Wambolts (or The Lake Is Waking Up)
May at Wambolts (or: The Lake Is Waking Up)
There’s a moment every spring when the lake shifts.
The ice disappears, the loons come back, and suddenly everyone remembers they need a cabin week.
May at Wambolts is a bit of a secret season. The woods are quiet, the fishing is excellent, and mornings on Upper Bottle Lake feel like they belong to whoever wakes up first with a cup of coffee.
If you like your lake time a little slower and a little quieter, May might be the best time to visit.
And this year we have two special weekends happening before the full summer bustle arrives.
Reading & Writing Weekend
May 15–17
This one is for readers, writers, thinkers, and people who just want an excuse to sit by the lake with a book.
Bring a notebook. Bring three books you’ve been meaning to read. Or just show up and enjoy a quiet Up North weekend.
We’ll also have complimentary book bedazzling in the Wam, where you can decorate the edges of your book pages and give your favorite read a little lake weekend flair.
Use code RelaxRetreat for 10% off your stay.
Memorial Day Fishing Weekend
May 22–25
Featuring Jason Durham – GoFishing! Guide Service
Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer around here.
The boats are back in the water, the docks are lively again, and the fish are definitely biting.
This year we’re partnering with Jason Durham of GoFishing! Guide Service, one of Minnesota’s most respected fishing guides, for a special guided fishing experience on Upper Bottle Lake.
Stay three nights, spend some time on the water with Jason, and pick up a few new tricks for the season ahead.
(Warning: your fish stories may get slightly larger afterward.)
We Also Gave the Website a Little Spring Cleanup
If you haven’t visited the site in a while, we’ve freshened things up.
It’s now easier to:
Browse the cabins
See what weeks are available
Start planning your summer stay
You’ll also find updated cabin descriptions, photos, and a better look at everything happening around the resort.
A Friendly Cabin Reminder
Summer at Wambolts tends to sneak up on people.
One minute it’s April, and the next minute someone texts you asking if you booked a cabin week yet.
The good news: there are still some great options left this summer if you’ve been thinking about a trip to the lake.
Or just give us a call if you want help picking a cabin.
