125 Years of Wambolts
Here for good. Then. Now. Always.
Some places you visit.
Some places become part of your story.
This summer, we’re celebrating 125 years of Wambolts—a place shaped by lake days, early mornings, and generations of families who keep coming back.
It started in 1899, when Bud Wambolt paddled into Upper Bottle Lake chasing a rumor of big fish—and started building something that would last.
On June 4, 1901, the first guests arrived.
A Summer Worth Slowing Down For
We’re not throwing just one party.
We’re stretching this celebration across the whole summer.
Think:
Sunrise coffee on the dock
Kids running the scavenger hunt
Loons calling at dusk
A quiet paddle at sunset
Stories written in cabin guest books
We’ve added a few light-touch traditions to make it even more fun—but nothing that gets in the way of what matters most: being here.
Anniversary Week
July 19–25
If you want the full experience, this is it.
A week of simple, joyful gatherings:
Cabin 10 Open House (with a few stories from the past)
Guest Potluck + Ice Cream Night
Fishing Tips + Optional Fish Fry
Live Music + History Walk
Canoe Parade + Sunset Paddle
Public 5K + Campfire S’mores Night
We’re especially excited to welcome members of the Mauer family and the Arnold/Wambolt family, who have been part of this story long before us.
Because this place isn’t just ours.
It never has been.
The Little Things (That Become the Big Things)
All summer long, you’ll find:
A scavenger hunt through the property
Wildlife + fish boards to track what’s happening each week
A memory book in The Wam
Monday morning caramel rolls (you’re welcome)
A few quiet nudges to notice what’s around you
Nothing complicated.
Just enough to make you look up a little more.
Come Be Part of It
We still have a few cabins open during anniversary week—but here’s the thing:
You don’t have to come that week to celebrate.
This whole summer is about 125 years of guests.
Which means… you count too.
Book any week.
Come for the lake.
Stay for what happens when you finally slow down.
Lake Days. Then. Now. Always.
